Fatality after police chase in Hamilton County
A driver died in a crash following a police chase early Thursday morning in Sheridan, as per the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The pursuit began when the Sheridan Police Department tried to stop a stolen vehicle on E. First St. and S. Georgia St. The driver fled, initiating a brief chase that ended with the car crashing in Veteran's Park. Despite efforts from the Sheridan Fire Department, the driver succumbed to crash-related injuries. The HCSO Crash Team is investigating the incident at the request of the Sheridan PD, with next of kin notified. Authorities are asking for public help and urging anyone with surveillance footage along 10th St. and Georgia St. between 8:38 a.m. and 8:43 a.m. to reach out at (317) 776-5848 or the investigations division at (317) 776-9897.
