Tragically, several individuals, including at least one child, lost their lives in the incident. Many others sustained injuries, with some still trapped under or around the bus. Police noted that a significant number of passengers were not wearing seatbelts, leading to multiple ejections. The bus was heading eastbound before the exit when it lost control, veered into the median, overcorrected, and ended up in a ditch. All 52 passengers on board suffered some form of injury. The bus was en route from Niagara Falls to New York City, with a diverse mix of nationalities among the injured individuals. Language barriers were encountered, prompting the dispatch of translators to assist at the scene. The crash took place around 12:40 p.m. near Exit 48A eastbound, resulting in the closure of I-90 in both directions between Exit 48A and Exit 49. Emergency response efforts, including Mercy Flights and ambulance services, were promptly mobilized. The driver survived the crash. Medical facilities such as Erie County Medical Center and Oishei Children’s Hospital are preparing to receive patients, with healthcare professionals also being deployed to the site. Additionally, noninjured individuals were reportedly taken to a nearby fire station. At 1:30 p.m., drivers were being rerouted off the highway at Exit 48A.
