Fatalities in I-40 accident in Loudon County

Several individuals were killed in a serious crash involving multiple vehicles on I-40 in Lenoir City, Tennessee on Monday afternoon, leading to the closure of both east and west lanes near I-75, as confirmed by the Loudon County Sheriff's Office. After a few hours, all lanes of I-40 were reopened at around 4:15 p.m., with assistance from various agencies including the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Lifestar helicopter being deployed to transport an injured individual. The Loudon County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, Priority Ambulance Service, and other emergency responders were present at the scene, working to rescue a person trapped in the wreckage. The crash took place close to mile marker 367 and was first reported at approximately 12:10 p.m. for diverting eastbound traffic to State Route 95 and US-321 at exit 364 during the closure.
