
Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on I-39 Near DeForest
One individual has died and five others were harmed in two crashes that occurred early Sunday morning on I-39 near DeForest, Wisconsin. In the initial incident, a Chevrolet Suburban collided head-on with a Volkswagen Tiguan, resulting in the Suburban catching fire. An 18-year-old female passenger in the Tiguan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 19-year-old male driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The 30-year-old female driver of the Suburban, from Portage, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Later on, while police were examining the crash site, a second crash took place when a driver in an Acuna TL crashed into a parked DeForest Police Department squad car. The driver in this second crash was also arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police have not disclosed the names of those involved until family members have been notified, and multiple emergency response agencies aided at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
