Fatal wrong-way crash on Dallas North Tollway

Following a serious collision that caused the closure of a section of the Dallas North Tollway, one individual has passed away and five others have sustained injuries. The incident, which occurred early Monday at DNT and Royal Lane in Dallas, involved a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that a passenger vehicle was traveling north in the southbound lanes, resulting in a collision with an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. Tragically, two vehicles caught fire and occupants were trapped inside, necessitating extrication by Dallas Fire-Rescue. All five injured individuals were extracted and transported to nearby hospitals, with one individual succumbing to injuries at the crash site. The condition of the remaining injured persons was critical, while the 18-wheeler driver emerged unharmed. Traffic in the area was heavily affected until all lanes were reopened by 6:15 a.m. Emergency response resources, including a hazmat team, crash investigators, and various emergency units, were present at the site, with the Urban Search and Rescue team from DFR also involved.
