Fatal wrong-way crash on 60 Freeway in Pomona
A tragic incident on the 60 Freeway in Pomona resulted in the loss of two women's lives and serious injuries to a one-year-old boy, all due to a wrong-way driver. The collision occurred late on a Saturday night near Reservoir Street, when a 24-year-old man from Pomona, identified as Rick Rodriguez, was driving east in the westbound lanes and struck a Honda Civic head-on. This impact caused Rodriguez's vehicle to hit a second car, leading to fatalities of the Civic's driver and a passenger, and the hospitalization of the young child. Another driver involved, a 47-year-old woman named Veronica Segura, sustained minor injuries. Rodriguez was arrested for suspicion of driving under influence but had to be released to receive medical treatment due to his own injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and if anyone has information, they are encouraged to contact CHP investigators.
