Fatal wrong-way crash in Vermont Square claims 2 lives, including infant
A tragic incident occurred in Vermont Square on Monday night resulting in two fatalities and two individuals in critical condition, according to police reports. The crash involved a white sedan that was speeding and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with another sedan on Western Avenue near 47th Street. The driver of the white sedan, a man in his 40s, and a 6-month-old infant who was a passenger in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the white sedan, a 20-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, sustained critical injuries and were taken to a hospital. Video footage captured the white sedan swerving into traffic and the subsequent collision. Authorities are investigating the incident, including the possibility that the white sedan may have been stolen. A large police presence was observed at the scene, causing a road closure on Western Avenue.
