Tragically, a fatal collision occurred in the northbound lanes of I-25 at 6th Avenue early Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Denver police reported that the accident took place around 3 a.m. when one driver mistakenly entered the interstate traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, causing a direct collision between two vehicles. Both drivers, who were the only occupants in their respective vehicles, lost their lives in the crash. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident and the reasons behind the incorrect direction of travel. The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed. Following the incident, the interstate was temporarily shut down for investigation and cleanup, with all lanes reopening by 6:30 a.m.
