Fatal Virginia Crash on I-95 Caused by Wrong-way Driver
A fatal collision involving a box truck and another vehicle has led to the closure of all northbound lanes on Interstate 95 in Prince George County near Exit 46, the I-295 interchange. Emergency personnel are currently at the site clearing the crash debris. VDOT officials announced that traffic is being redirected off Exit 45, resulting in a 3.5-mile backup as of 9 a.m. The incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, involved a box truck that veered from the southbound to the northbound lanes, colliding with a vehicle containing a single occupant. Following the impact, the box truck overturned, causing a fuel leak. Tragically, the vehicle caught fire with the driver trapped inside and did not survive. At present, there are no other reported injuries. Local emergency responders managed to extinguish the vehicle fire and contain the fuel spill from the box truck. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, and Virginia State Police have not disclosed further details about the crash.
