Fatal vehicle and train crash in Champaign Co.
One person has been killed in a car and train collision in Champaign County, Illinois. The incident occurred on Leverett Road just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Sheriff Heuerman reported that a vehicle traveling eastbound went around activated crossing gates and was struck by a northbound Amtrak train, resulting in the vehicle catching fire.
