Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision in North Iowa

A fatal collision occurred during the weekend in north Iowa, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The incident took place just before 9:30 am on Saturday about six miles north of Mason City. The accident involved a Lincoln MKS driven by 85-year-old Joseph Costello and a Ford Expedition driven by 34-year-old Valinda Imus. Despite wearing a seatbelt, Costello succumbed to his injuries and was taken to the medical examiner's office by the Mason City Fire Department Ambulance. Another passenger, 83-year-old Carol Costello, was injured and taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. Imus and a passenger in her vehicle, 30-year-old Deandre Harvey, were also hospitalized for their injuries. Various local authorities provided assistance at the crash site, which is currently under investigation.
