Fatal Two-Car Crash on Westbound I-94 in Detroit
A fatal two-car crash took place on Saturday night on Interstate 94 in Detroit, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old man from St. Clair Shores. Michigan State Police responded to the incident after troopers were alerted to the collision involving a silver Jeep and a green Jeep near Gratiot Avenue around 7 p.m. The investigation revealed that both vehicles tried to change lanes simultaneously, causing them to collide. The driver of the silver Jeep lost control, hitting the median wall and rolling over, while the driver of the green Jeep veered up the right embankment and struck a tree. Fortunately, the driver and sole passenger of the green Jeep were unharmed. The driver and one passenger from the silver Jeep sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, while the second passenger, also a 27-year-old man from St. Clair Shores, tragically passed away at the scene. MSP's Lt. Mike Shaw urged drivers to exercise caution when changing lanes, emphasizing the importance of using signals, checking mirrors and blind spots before making a lane change. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
