Fatal traffic collision on Northwest Side, according to authorities

An individual lost their life in a collision that occurred in the early hours of Friday on the Northwest Side of the city. The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. at the 3200 block of North Cumberland Avenue. According to Chicago police, a white vehicle driven by a man estimated to be between 40 and 48 years old was traveling westbound on Belmont and Cumberland when he disregarded a traffic signal and crashed into a blue SUV traveling northbound on Cumberland. The man was transported to Loyola Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. The 30-year-old driver of the SUV, who was unharmed, declined medical assistance. Authorities confirmed that no traffic citations were issued and Area 5 detectives are conducting an investigation into the matter.
