Fatal Speeding Car Crash in Ybor City
Early Saturday morning in Ybor, a tragic crash resulted in the loss of four lives. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw reported that the incident began when police observed two vehicles racing on Hillsborough Avenue heading towards Interstate 275 at around 12:30 a.m. One car headed south on I-275 while the other vehicle attempted to flee but was ultimately stopped near Nebraska and Palm after a high-speed pursuit. Tragically, the vehicle then struck over a dozen individuals on 7th Avenue near Bradley's, resulting in four deaths - three at the scene and one in the hospital. The victims were all adults over the age of 20. The police were able to apprehend a 22-year-old suspect from Dade City at the scene.
