Fatal small plane crash near residences in Saratoga County
A tragic incident occurred in Saratoga County on Friday morning when a small plane crashed in a residential area, resulting in the death of one person and injuring another. The crash took place on Wyndham Way in Ballston Spa, near the Saratoga County Airport. According to reports from the Albany Times Union, the pilot lost their life in the crash, while the passenger sustained injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Although the names of the victims have not been released, witnesses stated that the plane struck a tree but thankfully did not hit any homes. The plane, identified as a single-engine Mooney M20E from 1964, crashed shortly after taking off from the airport. Sheriff Michael Zurlo mentioned at a press conference that bystanders were able to rescue at least one person from the aircraft. This is an ongoing investigation.
