Fatal single-car crash on I-64 in Chesapeake
A tragic single-car crash on Interstate 64 at Greenwood Drive in Chesapeake resulted in the passing of a 32-year-old man, Justin D. Viera. Reports from Virginia State Police indicate that Viera, a resident of Chesapeake, was driving a 2013 Infinity M37X at high speed along eastbound I-64 when he lost control of his vehicle. This led to the car veering off the road, colliding with a guardrail, becoming airborne, and flipping multiple times. Viera, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and then pinned underneath it as it came to a stop. The severity of his injuries required him to be rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Authorities attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed and the lack of a seatbelt. Family members have been informed about the tragic incident.
