Fatal Santa Rosa crash caused by suspected drunk driver
A driver, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was speeding through the city streets of Santa Rosa on Monday night and crashed into another car, resulting in the death of the driver of the uninvolved car. The Santa Rosa Police Department was conducting a DUI investigation when they noticed a gray Nissan Maxima driving at a high speed on E Street. An officer attempted to catch up to the Nissan, and after losing sight of the vehicle briefly, spotted it colliding with a silver Toyota Camry at an intersection. The driver of the Toyota, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Aaron Rodriguez Hernandez, 21, of Santa Rosa, was injured and arrested by the California Highway Patrol after being released from the hospital. The circumstances leading to the fatal crash will be investigated independently by the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office and CHP, as stated by Santa Rosa police.
