Fatal rollover crash in East Haddam
A collision between two vehicles on Route 82 in East Haddam Saturday night resulted in the tragic death of one driver, confirmed state police. The accident occurred when a 2021 Honda CR-V EX was traveling eastbound on Route 82, and a 2005 Nissan Roadster driven by Patrick Lanahan, 29, of Wallingford, was heading westbound. Lanahan lost control of his vehicle while navigating a left-hand curve, causing it to hit a utility pole before veering back onto the road and colliding head-on with the Honda. Lanahan's vehicle overturned and landed on its roof in the middle of the roadway. The occupants of the Honda, aged 52, 16, and 11, sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Unfortunately, Lanahan was pronounced dead at the scene.
