Fatal rollover crash claims life of Hastings woman in Cottage Grove
The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) is currently investigating a tragic rollover crash in Cottage Grove that resulted in the death of a woman. According to authorities, the woman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the accident. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Southbound Highway 61 and Kingsborough Trail, as per the MSP crash report. Crystal Rae Maciewski, 43, from Hastings, was driving a Chevy Equinox southbound on Highway 61 when it collided with a Hyundai Genesis near Kingsborough Trail, resulting in the Equinox rolling over and Maciewski being ejected due to not wearing a seat belt. Fortunately, the Hyundai driver, a 22-year-old woman from Cottage Grove, escaped injury. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and road conditions were reported as dry at the time.
