Fatal rail incident in Fairfield
A fatal accident occurred at the US Steel yard in Bessemer, resulting in the death of 39-year-old Michael Dewaine Townsend. Townsend, an employee at Transtar Rail, was struck by a railcar and suffered fatal injuries. Transtar Rail has expressed cooperation with the investigations and refrained from further comment due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry. Townsend, who hailed from Bessemer and was a father of four, tragically lost his life in the accident.
