Fatal pedestrian crash near NC State; driver charged - officials

A tragic incident near the North Carolina State University campus resulted in the death of an assistant professor after she was involved in a pedestrian crash on Tuesday evening. The collision occurred at the intersection of Pogue Street and Clark Avenue, close to the campus. The professor, identified as 41-year-old Natalia Duque-Wilckens, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she later passed away. The driver involved, 19-year-old Jack Etheridge from Waxhaw, cooperated with authorities and received a citation for misdemeanor death by vehicle. The investigation is still ongoing.
