Fatal pedestrian accident on Airport Drive.
Early on Saturday morning, an adult male pedestrian lost his life in a tragic accident on Airport Drive after being hit by a vehicle. Police arrived at the scene just north of State Road at 12:30 a.m. to find the pedestrian with severe injuries, and he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene. The driver, also an adult male, stayed at the site and assisted investigators. According to the police report, the driver was heading northbound towards the signal at State Road, near the Golden State Highway overpass, when the pedestrian crossed the road outside of a marked crosswalk and was struck. Authorities confirmed that factors like speed, alcohol, or drug impairment were not involved in the incident. Airport Drive has three lanes in each direction and a right turn storage lane in the northbound lanes leading to the westbound Golden State on-ramp.
