Fatal Multi-Vehicle Fontana Crash Interstate 10 Freeway, Sierra Avenue

One Dead in Crash on I-10 in San Bernardino County SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (May 20, 2025) — A fatal multi-vehicle crash in Fontana happened on the Interstate 10 Freeway Monday night near the Sierra Avenue off ramp, in San Bernardino County. The three-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 6:52 p.m. on May 19th in the westbound lanes of I-10, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision involved a Toyota Camry, a trailer, and a Honda Odyssey. Fatal Crash on Freeway in Fontana First responders arrived shortly after the crash was reported and discovered that one individual in the Honda Odyssey was trapped and unresponsive. San Bernardino County Fire personnel worked to extricate the victim from the wreckage. The unidentified person was later transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. While the extent of their injuries was initially unknown, CHP confirmed later in the evening that the crash had resulted in at least one fatality. By 8:42 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was contacted to request a coroner's response to the scene. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear if a fourth vehicle may have been involved, as suggested in early CHP reports. Investigation into Fontana Collision Underway All westbound lanes were eventually reopened just after 8:00 p.m., following an extended closure during the investigation and cleanup. Tow services removed the damaged vehicles from the scene, and one vehicle was impounded for further evidence analysis.
