Fatal multi-vehicle crash on I-49, police investigating
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality, said Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO), at 4:57 p.m., "deputies responded to a collision involving a gray truck and a white SUV on Interstate 49, just north of the Southern Loop exit." The gray truck was traveling northbound on I-49 when it collided with the SUV, which was also heading north on the same interstate. The impact caused the truck to catch fire, stated CPSO. Officers stated that when Caddo Fire District 6 arrived at the scene, they "pronounced the driver of the gray truck deceased." CPSO claims that the driver and passengers of the SUV refused medical attention. Deputies are still on site investigating the cause of the accident. They note that the outer lane of I-49 northbound is closed; however, the inner lane remains open, allowing vehicles to travel northward.
