Fatal multi-vehicle crash in Dauphin County

One person has died and three others, including two minors, were transported to the hospital with severe injuries following a multi-vehicle collision in Dauphin County yesterday evening. The incident, reported by State Police in Harrisburg, occurred at about 5:53 p.m. on June 6 when a 2007 Pontiac G6 failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling south on North Hertzler Road in Londonderry Township. This led to a collision with a northbound 2005 Ford F-350. After impact, both vehicles veered off the road and onto the embankment off the south side of East Harrisburg Pike. Tragically, one occupant of the Pontiac, identified as Michael Eckenrod, 47, of Elizabethtown, was pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger sustained grave injuries and was taken to Milton Hershey Hospital. The two occupants of the Ford F-350, a 17-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old female passenger, also suffered serious injuries and were transported to Milton Hershey Hospital. State Police are actively investigating the accident, and the current conditions of the injured individuals are not known at this time.
