Fatal multi-vehicle accident on I-77 in Surry County, according to troopers.
A tragic accident occurred in Surry County on Interstate 77 resulting in the death of a man, as reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The incident involved multiple vehicles, including a white 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer, a white 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, and a purple 2021 Honda CR-V. The crash took place near MM 86 around 8:25 a.m. when the Equinox rear-ended the stationary tractor-trailer. The driver of the Equinox, identified as Russell K. Losser, 51, from Galax, Virginia, sadly passed away at the scene. The front right passenger sustained injuries and was hospitalized, while the drivers of the other vehicles were fortunately unharmed or treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
