Fatal multi-car crash claims life of Williamstown resident in New York

A tragic accident occurred in Hoosick, N.Y., resulting in the death of a woman from Williamstown and several injuries. According to a news release from the New York State Police, the collision between two vehicles took place at the intersection of State Route 7 and State Route 22 on Thursday morning. One car was found off the road, while the other was in the westbound lane of Route 7 when troopers arrived. Emergency medical services from various agencies were providing aid at the scene. One of the drivers, Susan Alexis Joe, 25, of Petersburgh, N.Y., sustained leg and hip injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The second vehicle's driver, Elizabeth Cain, 82, from North Adams, was also hospitalized for a leg injury, and the passenger, Claire Boyer, 84, from Williamstown, sadly passed away at the crash site. New York State Police determined that the accident occurred when Cain attempted to turn westbound onto State Route 7 while traveling north on State Route 22. The incident is under investigation by the authorities.
