Fatal multi-car collision in Mesa claims lives of young person and driver
Authorities in Mesa are currently looking into a tragic collision that occurred just prior to 12:30 a.m. on Saturday close to the intersection of Southern Avenue and Dobson Road. Reports indicate that one vehicle crashed into the back of another car as it was exiting a private driveway, leading to the second car catching on fire. Tragically, the driver of the speeding vehicle was declared deceased at the scene, as was a 17-year-old passenger in the other car. A number of additional occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a medical facility for treatment, as disclosed by law enforcement officials. Responding officers promptly assisted in extracting individuals from the burning vehicle, with three officers receiving treatment for smoke inhalation and minor injuries from the rescue operation. Detectives spent numerous hours on-site carrying out their investigation. Police have indicated that no charges will be pressed in relation to this incident.
