Fatal motorcycle crash, with 2 DUI arrests following in Orange County

Two individuals were taken into custody for driving while intoxicated following a chaotic accident involving an RV that resulted in a fatality for a motorcyclist in Orange County early Saturday morning. Authorities are examining whether the motorcyclist might have also been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The incident occurred close to midnight on May 31 at the intersection of North Euclid Street and Bastanchury Road, according to reports from the Fullerton Police Department. Upon arrival, Fullerton officers discovered a severely damaged 1993 Harley Davidson and an injured adult male rider on the ground. In the vicinity, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe attached to a 1996 Prowler recreational trailer with visible damage from the crash was found in the middle of the road west of the intersection. The initial investigation suggests that a female driver was traveling eastbound on West Bastanchury Road when the Chevrolet experienced a mechanical problem and came to a halt in the median. A male passenger then switched seats with the driver in an attempt to maneuver the vehicle in reverse, inadvertently causing it and the RV to jack-knife and block both lanes going west. It was during this obstruction that the motorcyclist collided with the trailer while heading from North Euclid Street. Emergency responders who arrived on the scene later pronounced the motorcyclist deceased. The victim's identity has not been disclosed. "Both the female driver and the male passenger were apprehended at the site on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs," shared the police department. "It is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the motorcyclist's actions." Authorities urge any witnesses with relevant information regarding the fatal accident to reach out to Fullerton Police Traffic Accident Investigator Manes at 714-738-6815 or [email protected].
