Fatal Motorcycle Crash on University Avenue in Provo
A 20-year-old man from Lehi tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Provo earlier this week. The incident occurred when a van, heading north on University Avenue, turned left at the intersection of 1200 South and collided with the motorcyclist, identified as Markus Ewart. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Ewart sadly passed away. Moreover, while police were investigating this crash, another incident took place nearby when a vehicle struck the center island structure on the road. The driver, Brandy Ann Barnes, was promptly taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Subsequent tests revealed the presence of amphetamines and methamphetamines in her system. Barnes, who allegedly confessed to drinking and driving, faces charges related to impaired driving, operating a vehicle without a license, as her license had been suspended, and possession of a controlled substance.
