Fatal motorcycle crash on northbound I-225 and Smith Road in Aurora, per police
A motorcycle rider tragically lost their life in a four-vehicle collision on Interstate 225 in Aurora on Friday afternoon. Aurora Police Department responded to a multiple vehicle crash on the northbound side of the highway near Smith Road at approximately 3 p.m. The incident occurred when a woman on a motorcycle traveling northbound collided with a slowing vehicle in front of her due to traffic conditions, and was subsequently struck by another northbound vehicle, potentially a semi-truck. Another vehicle was also part of the collision, although details were not provided by Aurora PD. The motorcyclist was swiftly taken to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries. All vehicles involved remained on the scene and assisted with the investigation. The Aurora PD's Traffic Unit conducted an inquiry into the incident and indicated that speed and intoxication were not factors in the crash. Northbound I-225 had to be shut down for approximately two hours before reopening at around 4:45 p.m.
