Fatal motorcycle crash in Union Parish takes life of Mississippi man
In Bernice, Louisiana, on the afternoon of July 25, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop F began looking into a deadly single-vehicle accident that took place on U.S. Hwy 167 just south of Louisiana Hwy 2. The crash tragically claimed the life of 69-year-old David Voorhies from Woodville, Mississippi. Initial findings indicate that Voorhies was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. Hwy 167 when, for reasons still being looked into, the motorcycle veered off the road and hit a cattle gate. Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Voorhies suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Standard toxicology samples were gathered for analysis, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
