Fatal motorcycle crash claims life of New York State Police sergeant in Dutchess County
Recently, there was a tragic motorcycle accident in East Fishkill, N.Y., that is currently being investigated by the New York State Police. The incident occurred early in the morning on the Taconic State Parkway, resulting in the death of State Police Sergeant Nigel Barnett. He was riding a 2025 Ducati motorcycle when he lost control and collided with a guardrail. Despite efforts by emergency responders, Sergeant Barnett was declared deceased at the scene. Governor Kathy Hochul and New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association President Charles Murphy both expressed their condolences over the loss of Sergeant Barnett, a highly respected member of the State Police force who served his community for nearly two decades. The crash investigation is ongoing.
