Fatal motorcycle accident shuts down part of I-75 by Wesley Chapel
A fatal collision has led to the closure of a section of I-75 southbound near Wesley Chapel. The incident, involving a 17-year-old motorcyclist from Land O' Lakes and a 65-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Crystal River, occurred around 10:10 a.m. on Thursday. The motorcyclist attempted to change lanes just north of County Road 54 and collided with the tractor-trailer passenger side before being struck and killed by the undercarriage. Traffic was seen moving slowly on the shoulder via FDOT cameras in the hours following the crash, but the exact time of the interstate reopening remains uncertain.
