Fatal motorcycle accident on I-215 involves 30-foot fall.
A tragic incident occurred on I-215 in Salt Lake City, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist after a crash on Thursday evening. The rider was launched over a wall and fell approximately 30 feet below. The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) is currently investigating the single fatality that took place around 6:30 p.m. at the I-215 South westbound ramp from Union Park. According to UHP, the rider hit the ramp's wall, leading to the launch over the edge. UHP is exploring the circumstances of the incident, noting that the rider may have been unable to navigate the ramp's curb. While speed is suspected to be a factor, it has not been conclusively confirmed in their investigation. Following the incident, the flyover ramp from Union Park to westbound I-80 has been closed. This marks the fourth fatal motorcycle accident of the week in the area, with the most recent one occurring in Spanish Fork, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s after a collision with a truck. The driver of the truck involved in that incident has been arrested and is facing charges related to criminal negligence automobile homicide. Two of the other crashes this week involved 23-year-old victims, one in American Fork and the other in West Valley City.
