Fatal motorcycle accident in Fort Collins

A tragic incident occurred on Monday night in Fort Collins, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. The Fort Collins Police Services responded to a serious crash at the intersection of South Timberline Road and Bighorn Drive around 7:01 p.m. It was reported that a female driver of a 2018 Hyundai Tucson was traveling northbound on S. Timberline Road, while a male rider on a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle was heading southbound on the same road. The collision happened when the Hyundai attempted to make a left turn onto Bighorn Drive. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away. In light of this incident and the increasing presence of motorcycles on the roads as the weather warms up, Sgt. David Lindsay emphasized the importance of all road users, whether on motorcycles or in vehicles, to adhere to traffic laws and speed limits for safer roadways. Fort Collins Police are still investigating the factors contributing to the crash and encourage anyone with relevant information to contact Community Service Officer Jacob Haas. The road closure following the crash lasted for five-and-a-half hours.
