Fatal Long Beach motorcycle crash leaves one dead, one injured
A fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Long Beach resulting in the death of the rider and hospitalization of his passenger. The incident, which took place on July 3 at the intersection of Downey Avenue and South Street, involved a collision between the motorcycle and a Toyota 4Runner. The motorcycle was traveling westbound on South Street when it crashed into the turning vehicle. The rider, Jonathon Porras, 20, died at the scene, while the female passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Toyota driver is cooperating with the authorities, who believe speed and distracted driving may have contributed to the crash.
