Fatal Lancaster crash leaves only surviving child hospitalized

A tragic accident in Lancaster claimed the lives of a family of four in a two-vehicle collision earlier this week. After the devastating crash, the California Highway Patrol rushed the lone surviving child to surgery. The incident occurred on State Route 138 at 110th Street West around 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2. Reports indicated that a Chevrolet Colorado carrying the family was accelerating from a stop sign at 110th Street West when they collided with a Dodge Ram 3500 traveling eastbound on State Route 138. Unfortunately, the parents and their 12-year-old daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. The family members lost in the tragic accident were identified as Vanessa Gonzalez-Gabriel, Abdias Gabriel-Fernandez, and Ruby Gabriel. The surviving child, whose name was not immediately released, was a juvenile and underwent surgery at Antelope Valley Medical Center. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the medical center. Following the crash investigation, which closed SR-138 in both directions for about four and a half hours, no criminal charges were pressed. The California Highway Patrol Antelope Valley Area office expressed its deepest sympathies to the community during this difficult time.
