
Fatal Lake Tahoe boating accident claims DoorDash executive and Bay Area residents
A tragic boating accident occurred over the weekend on Lake Tahoe, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including a San Francisco resident who was a DoorDash executive, along with his parents from the Peninsula. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the identities of all the victims who were on board a powerboat that capsized during a sudden storm near D.L. Bliss State Park. Among those who lost their lives were DoorDash's 37-year-old Josh Pickles, along with his parents, age 73 and 71. The other victims were named as Peter Bayes, Timothy O'Leary, Theresa Giullari, James Guck, and Stephen Lindsay. Initially, rescue operations were launched for the missing individuals, with one person found on Sunday evening and the last missing person found deceased on Monday afternoon. The Sheriff's Office has expressed its deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic event. In a statement, DoorDash honored Josh Pickles, expressing sorrow over the loss and highlighting his positive impact on the company and colleagues. The sudden storm that caused the boat to capsize was described by witnesses as unprecedented for Lake Tahoe, with high winds and waves transforming the weather conditions rapidly. The accident is considered one of the deadliest in the recent history of the lake and in California since the 2019 Conception dive boat fire.
