Fatal interstate crash caused by mechanical breakdown during holiday weekend

A tragic accident occurred over the holiday weekend in Asheville, North Carolina, resulting in the death of a man who was struck by a vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 40. The Asheville Police Department responded to a collision on I-40 East near mile marker 51 on Sunday morning. The initial findings suggest that a driver of a Ford F-250 truck experienced mechanical issues, prompting them to pull over to the right shoulder of the interstate. Another truck, a Ford F-450, attempted to change lanes and collided with the parked vehicle, causing it to hit the driver outside his vehicle. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Carlos Alfredo Amaya-Segovia, tragically passed away at the scene.
