Fatal incident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort: Child killed by falling boulder, confirms medical examiner

A tragic incident occurred at Diamond Peak Ski Resort over the weekend, resulting in the death of a 7-year-old child named Adelyn Grimes from Reno. While not skiing, the child was climbing on a slope near the resort's base lodge when a rock dislodged and struck her. Despite receiving initial first aid from ski patrol, Adelyn unfortunately passed away at the scene. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident, which has been deemed an accident by the medical examiner. Both resort and emergency services personnel responded to the scene, with counseling resources being offered to staff members. Our deepest condolences go out to Adelyn's family, the ski racing community, and all affected by this heartbreaking event.
