Fatal hunting accident in Lincoln County on family property
A 67-year-old man from Waynesburg tragically passed away on Saturday evening after being mistakenly shot by a young hunter who thought he was a deer on family land. The man, identified as Danny Wayne Wilson, was out scouting the property when he was accidentally struck by a bullet during a youth hunt. Despite the father and son responsible for the shooting rendering immediate aid after realizing their mistake, Wilson sustained a serious leg injury that ultimately led to his death at a nearby hospital. It is noted that Wilson was not wearing orange clothing, as he was not hunting himself and likely unaware of the other hunting party's presence. Authorities from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife have begun an investigation into the incident, with the father and son already being interviewed as part of the process.
