Fatal hot air balloon crash in Brazil claims eight lives, officials report

Authorities in Brazil have confirmed that a tragic incident occurred when a hot air balloon carrying 21 individuals caught fire and crashed in Praia Grande, Santa Catarina. Sadly, eight people lost their lives in the accident. Videos shared by local news sources depicted the balloon emitting smoke as it descended to the ground early Saturday morning. Fortunately, thirteen individuals survived the crash and were swiftly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The state governor, Jorginho Mello, expressed deep sorrow over the event and emphasized the importance of providing immediate support to the affected families. Praia Grande is a popular destination for hot air balloon rides during the June festivities celebrating Catholic saints like Saint John. Tragically, another hot air balloon accident occurred in Sao Paulo state recently, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
