Fatal hit-and-run in Santa Monica claims lives of 2 pedestrians

The Santa Monica police are seeking the driver involved in a tragic incident where a car hit a group of pedestrians on a sidewalk on Friday night, causing two fatalities and injuring two others. The collision occurred on Wilshire Boulevard close to Euclid Avenue around 9 p.m. Emergency responders, including the Santa Monica Fire Department and law enforcement, arrived at the scene to find a Dodge Charger had crashed into a tree after hitting the pedestrians. The driver fled the scene. Witnesses described a sudden and loud impact, with one saying it felt like lightning indoors. The affected stretch of Wilshire, from 14th Street to Euclid Avenue, remains closed on Saturday morning as investigators continue their work.
