Fatal hit-and-run in Sampson County: Teen killed, suspect charged with Ford Fusion involved
In Harrells, North Carolina, a woman has been detained by troopers following her involvement in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the tragic death of a teenager in Sampson County. Antoinette Worrell, 50, from Rose Hill, was identified as the suspect in the investigation conducted by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 421 near Josephus Road outside of Harrells, where 17-year-old Savannah Alice Hawkins was struck by Worrell's burgundy Ford Fusion. Unfortunately, despite efforts to revive her, Hawkins passed away at the scene. Worrell is facing charges including hit and run resulting in serious injury or death, failure to report an accident, and driving with a revoked license. She is currently in custody in Sampson County, with a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday morning.
