Fatal hit-and-run at Maryland birthday party
A tragic incident occurred in suburban Washington, D.C., where a hit-and-run driver struck an outdoor birthday party, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to eight children. The crash in Bladensburg, Maryland, left a total of thirteen people injured. The children, aged between 1 and 17 years old, were among those hurt. Video and photos shared on social media depicted a sedan crashing into a white tent on a lawn. The driver fled the scene but later surrendered to police. Authorities are assessing potential criminal charges for the 66-year-old man. The victim, identified as Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez, 31, from Washington, and four others remained hospitalized as of Sunday. Initial reports indicated that nine children, aged 2 to 9, were injured.
