Two individuals tragically lost their lives on Thursday in a helicopter crash near St. Charles County, Missouri. The incident occurred when the helicopter struck power lines over the Mississippi River and crashed onto a barge at approximately 11 a.m. The crew was working on the power lines when the accident took place. Fortunately, no one on the barge was injured, and the fire resulting from the crash was promptly put out. The crash site was evacuated due to a downed power line in the water, but it was later determined to be inactive. The incident occurred near Alton, Illinois, just across the Missouri state line and north of St. Louis. The utility company involved expressed sadness over the event and extended condolences to the victims' families and coworkers, promising full cooperation with the investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board will be looking into the crash, which involved a Hughes 369D helicopter.
