Fatal head-on crash on US 89 in Sanpete County
A 68-year-old man tragically passed away on Thursday following a collision between his SUV and a semitruck near Indianola in Sanpete County. According to a report from the Utah Highway Patrol, the man was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on U.S. 89 when he crossed the center line near milepost 293, approximately 3 miles south of Indianola, and crashed into the northbound semitruck. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. The statement indicates that it is suspected the driver of the Tahoe experienced a medical emergency while behind the wheel, leading to the loss of control of his vehicle. Unfortunately, he sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The 62-year-old man driving the semitruck suffered minor injuries.
