Fatal head-on crash on US 131 Highway
Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic head-on collision in Martin Township, according to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, three others sustained critical injuries from the incident. The collision occurred early Sunday morning on US 131 near 129th Avenue in Wayland Township after authorities received reports of a motorist driving in the wrong direction. The wrong-way driver, a female, was fatally injured, along with a male driver and his front seat passenger in the other vehicle. Three passengers in the rear of the vehicle were severely injured. Alcohol's involvement in the crash is currently unknown. The names of those involved have not been disclosed pending notification of their families. The Allegan County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation. After a brief closure, US 131 has since reopened.
