Fatal head-on crash in Spring Valley injuries multiple victims
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a tragic head-on collision occurred in the Spring Valley area of San Diego resulting in the death of a passenger in an SUV and major injuries to others involved. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and the crash led to significant traffic delays on Jamacha Road near Darby Street. The incident, which occurred at 8:54 p.m. on Saturday night, involved a Toyota Camry and a Nissan Rogue. The CHP is investigating the collision, which occurred when the Camry allegedly crossed the center divider and collided with the Nissan. First responders had to rescue individuals trapped in the vehicles, with most individuals sustaining major injuries and one woman passenger tragically losing her life later at the hospital. The authorities suspect alcohol may have played a role in the crash, emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving. Captain Monteagudo stressed the importance of preventing such incidents through proactive measures. The San Diego Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the deceased woman at a future time.
